Episode 19: Acting Rationally for Happiness
We start with a quick look at the utility of a new personality quiz, What’s Your Sparketype? by Jonathan Fields then continue our discussion of the course “The Meaning of Life: Perspective’s from the World’s Great Intellectual Traditions.”
We look at the philosophy of the Stoics and the Epicureans and their focus on controlling our emotions and performing our social duties for a happy life. We also discuss the need to contribute to the greater good, even if the world around us seems undeserving. Then we move on to the view that death is not to be feared and that in realizing how brief life is, we can truly see its beauty.
